Dione Joseph is the founder of Black Creatives Aotearoa and co-founder of JK Productions: He Kōrero Ngā Tahi. She is a writer, director and dramaturge who prioritises developing creative works by Indigenous and PoC (People of Colour) creatives. She has worked in Australia, Canada and the UK as a stage director, guest lecturer and research assistant; and has held artist residencies in China and Mexico. She has been a guest speaker at different international arts festivals and is also an experienced panel facilitator here and overseas. Her writing can be found in the NZ Herald, Canvas Magazine, DANZ, Australian Stage and she is also the author of two published book chapters and as well academic articles on theatre and performance. She is the first New Zealander to be awarded a place at the prestigious Lincoln Center Director’s Lab and is also an alumna of the New Zealand Leadership Program.
