My mahi as speaker and facilitator

I am an artist, activist, and academic with a practical background in live performance, with an emphasis on culturally and linguistically diverse communities. I am also a highly experienced facilitator and motivational speaker who, over the past 15 years, has worked at the intersection of arts, politics, and socio-cultural change.

I have facilitated a range of different panels, workshops and conversations for different festivals including Auckland Writers Festival (NZ) Planet IndigenUS (Canada), Ecocentrix -Indigenous Arts, Sustainable Acts (UK) as well in conjunction with my social innovation and systems change work here in Aotearoa. I have facilitated panels for the Ministry of Ethnic Communities and Migrant Action Trust, ACOFI (African Communities Forum) and in a number of occasions for Black Creatives Aotearoa.

I have been a Guest Scholar at the University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina, and University of Toronto, as well as a Research Assistant at Royal Holloway, University of London and have given various presents at all the above. I have also taught at Massey University and the University of Auckland and am the author of multiple book chapters and various academic papers that discuss race, politics, and performance.

As the founder of Black Creatives Aotearoa, I am dedicated to developing a community dedicated to building connection, creation, and collaboration among those of African and Afro-Caribbean heritage in Aotearoa and also with other communities also in Aotearoa. I am also a graduate of the New Zealand Leadership Programme (2019).
